Alento Red, White & Rosé--Monte Branco's $15 Knockout

WINE WORLD REALITY CHECK

Friends,

We’re on quite a ride, and it’s been going for a while now. Here we are in September 2025, and the world keeps changing. Over the years, we’ve had to roll with the punches through periods of inflation, tariffs, a pandemic, a reordering of geopolitics, tariffs again…and we just keep bobbing and weaving, slip the jab and try to keep moving.

Look, much of the wine imported from Europe is going to see a price increase of about 15-30%. Heck, a lot of domestic wine prices are going to increase, too, because a lot of equipment and packaging are imported. Wine lovers like you are going to have to make smart buying choices. So what can we do about it?

Our answer is to maintain this commitment to you: Find the best small, family-run European wineries that offer the best value for your dollar, and import them directly to you, without the middleman. As a small company, we’ve always been able to zag when others are still zigging.

Our program of pre-arrival offers ensures that you always get about a 25% discount on the wines we offer--this is good for you, it’s good for the supplier, and it allows us to always be bringing in new, unique wines, at tremendous value.

Today, we’re kicking off a new round of pre-arrival offers. We’ve got a really exciting slate of offers from Spain and Portugal that are getting picked up from suppliers in the next few weeks, headed our way for the Fall. That’s right--in the coming weeks and months, you’ll be hearing about new discoveries, and some old favorites, offered at unbeatable prices.

While these offers require a little patience, the smart money is on securing these wines now, at great discounts. Take today’s offer - Monte Branco’s lineup of Alento Red, White, and Rosé. We originally offered these wines, way back in 2018, at $12.50/bottle. With everything that’s happened since, all that turmoil and upheaval—what do you think they would be priced at today? $20? $25? Nope. $15, best price. The combination of straight-up, reliable pleasure and fantastic value is a knockout punch!

We’ll always have some wine in stock for you to meet your immediate needs, and we will continue to offer opportunities to taste and talk about these wines and stories from the road. But, today, as the nights turn a bit chilly, with the Fall on the horizon, take advantage of these prices for one-of-a-kind wines, headed our way shortly.

Since our first stories about Adega Monte Branco, way back in February 2018, the Alento wines have become, and remain, undoubtedly our most popular wines offered every year. This “Welcome Mat" line-up is a perfect embodiment of what we go searching for to put on your table (and ours!). This is not a guilty pleasure…Just good 'ol regular pleasure.

Luís Louro and Inês Capão have a great thing going, making exciting, delicious, and shockingly good value wines--there is no better price/quality ratio anywhere else we’ve come across than Portugal's Alentejo region.

Since that first offer, we’ve been importing a few hundred cases of these Alento wines each year. The Cru Faithful has heeded the call and received the message loud and clear.

Alento translates literally as “Breath," but, a layer deeper, one might use it as a "deep breath", as in the courage to try something. A little further, and the word can also be used for "vigor" or "enthusiasm". Like the name, the wine's complexity will reveal itself the deeper you go...

• Adega Monte Branco Alento Tinto 2022 •

In the gorgeous Alentejo, we find Luís and Inês crafting wine with uncommon richness and purity. This is an old-vine blend of local Portuguese varieties like Alicante, Trincadeira, Tinto Roriz, and Touriga Nacional. In the glass, you'll find a warm, generous, mouth-filling red, with dark fruit, spice notes, and a slight whiff of eucalyptus. Too much "wow factor" to truly describe.

• Adega Monte Branco Alento Branco 2024 •

Even though this is red wine country, we sense with every visit that Luís and Inês are most proud of their whites. This youthful and mineral-laden wine is ready for quaffing, yet it's a pretty serious wine for the price. One might peg this as a cool-climate white from somewhere far more north in Europe.

• Adega Monte Branco Alento Rosé 2024 •

Let’s not leave this gem out! Even as we head into Fall, this pink Portuguese sipper is good any time…Like its white counterpart, this is mineral-laden, bright, and fruity; an ultra-versatile rosé. Full of juicy berry fruit, with a dry, clean finish, it is ready for quaffing.
