From the Alps to the Mediterranean: Italian White Wine for every day!
When I first started to get more deeply into wine, I’d often hear bits of passed-down wisdom, in the form of cute sayings like “The first duty of Italian wine is to be RED!” While most of the reputation of Italian wine was built from their famous red wines, nowadays that view is not just outdated, but outright wrong. For a country with a coastline of several thousand kilometers, with abundant seafood and a cuisine built on fresh, in-season ingredients, white wines are often the best and most obvious pairing.
On our travels, crisscrossing Italy, we’ve uncovered more than a few great examples in a veritable rainbow of flavors. After plenty of great meals, accompanied by some great white wines, I can confidently say that the old mandate for Italian wine to be red is just plain wrong.
Fortunately, you don’t have to take our word for it - the proof is right in the bottle; we’ve got three prime examples of what we’re talking about right here, nicely bundled at a pretty sharp price. This trio of Italian whites, from across Italy, is a perfect showcase, and in time for a season of al fresco dining.
