Rosé Season! Three Rosés from France
Hi Cru!
I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
With the sun shining, temperatures creeping up to the 80’s and weekends spent in the gardens, there’s only one thing I’m drinking these days: Rosé!
We brought in an selection of rosés earlier this year from Italy, but with the warm, sunny spring we've had, I'm guessing they didn't last too long, so I'm coming back with more in time for summer. Our latest load from France set to arrive imminently, and onboard is a fresh selection of pink wines for your Summer sipping. We’ve stocked up on a couple of our all time favorites, and one delicious, out-of-the-box selection from the newest addition to the Cru family of vignerons.
Check out these three Rosé wines - stock up on a selection of one, two or all three. Details and a special offer below.
Cordaillat Rosé de Pinot Gris ‘Tradition’
Let’s start with something new, and very special. Pascal Dethune is working in the Sauvignon-centric appellation of Reuilly, but about 20% of his production is Pinot Gris. Here, in the eastern Loire Valley, he allows his Pinot Gris to achieve a golden salmon color before picking, and with a bit of time on the skins before pressing, he captures that beautiful shade in the bottle. Not only that, but the resultant wine is aromatically gregarious, with jasmine and ripe golden fruits jumping from the glass. The palate is reminiscent of a sweet-tart baked apple, and, as you would expect from the Loire, a bright backbone of acidity. This is a lovely discovery from Domaine Cordaillat, and a deliciously novel way to experience the versatility of Pinot Gris.
La Paroisse ‘Coup de Soleil’
This is one rosé that we can never get enough out. You know it and love it, the 100% gamay rosé from our dear friends Jean-Claude and Laetitia Chaucesse at Domaine de la Paroisse. Breath this in and you’ll feel like you’re walking through a field of ripe Hood strawberries, with that late spring floral breeze in the air. Juicy, generous and slurp-able, this is a glass full of red fruits with a powerful thirst quenching quality. A bottle of this tends to go fast once opened - better grab a few!
Domaine du Tave ‘Cuvée Délice’
What is summer without a classic dry rosé from the Rhône valley? Here is Audrey Latard’s brilliant quaffer, composed from the holy trinity of Rhône grapes: Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. This is the perfect crowd-pleaser rosé, that entices you with a delicate floral scent with hints of mandarin orange, followed by a mouthful of crisp red fruit, strawberries, and a salty-citrus finish.
