Thanksgiving Survival 6 Packs are Ready For Your Table
Hi Friends,
I’m back from another wonderful journey in France, where I discovered some very cool wines. Flying right now is a little hectic, and frankly, I’m grateful my connecting flight actually took off. Of course, gratitude is the theme of the season, with Thanksgiving right around the corner.
I’ve said it before, but Thanksgiving is my most favorite of holidays. It is uncomplicated in it’s expectations: Gather with family and friends, food and gratitude. What more do you need in order to celebrate? Maybe just a little wine to say a toast and wash it all down.
In keeping with our own Thanksgiving tradition, we’ve packed up six delicious wines for your table, to make your Thanksgiving a little easier. There is something for everybody that shows up and everything on the table. The 2025 Thanksgiving Survival Kit is ready for you now--including wines that are great on their own while you’re preparing the food, or to pair beautifully with whatever it is you're cooking, all while being thankful for the friends and family around you.
2025 Thanksgiving Survival 6-Pack
One bottle of each wine below
Start with Bubbles!
1) Corvée Tretodoc Brut, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy
A refreshing glass of sparkling wine is always the right choice before, during, or after a meal! This classic sparkler from Corvée is 100% chardonnay, and spends 3 years in bottle before release, for complex aromas of brioche, and lemon peel with a very fine mousse of bubbles throughout.
A Crisp, Refreshing White
2) Weingut Tauber Kerner 2022, Alto Adige, Italy
Kerner is a white grape that is a cross between Riesling and Schiava, a red variety that lends a hint of red fruit aromatics to this otherwise bright, citrus-y, and bone-dry high-altitude white. I opened one of these up last Thanksgiving and loved how it complemented nearly every dish on the table, including the cranberries.
A Juicy, Friendly Red
3) Ipsum Carménère 2022, Bordeaux, France
Carménère is now more associated with Chilean wines, but the Siozard brothers have preserved this ancient Bordeaux variety, which lands somewhere between Cabernet and Merlot. It’s fruity, with bold red fruit flavors, and a complement of spice and smoke. It has pleasantly grippy tannins without overwhelming you and will keep your palate fresh as you go back for seconds.
The Red That Goes with Everything
4) Domaine du Gigognan Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge 2022, France
Côtes-du-Rhône is my go-to red for all occasions--something to sip on while kicking back with friends, snacking on a bit of cheese, or just an easy-going glass of red to go with those leftovers. This one is full of classic red and black fruit, savory wild herbal notes, and a bit of spice and black pepper. It finishes smooth and rich, with a pleasant warming sensation.
A Wine to Fall in Love With
5) Clos de Mez ‘La Dot’ Fleurie 2018, Beaujolais, France
Gamay is a classic for the Thanksgiving table—versatile and well balanced with bright, juicy red fruit, the right amount of grippy tannin and a refreshing acidity. Add in the layered complexity thanks to Marie-Elodie’s precise winemaking, and this is a serious wine to sit back and enjoy the beautiful aromas and elegant texture.
A Bold Main Event
6) Sassotondo ‘Franze’ 2020, Maremma, Italy
This special reserve bottling from our friends at Sassotondo, only produced in great years. A blend of 65% Ciliegiolo, for elegance and crunchy, expressive fruit, with 35% Teroldego, for structure and depth. Expect dark fruit, exotic spices, cedar wood, and a bold tannic finish.
